Elderly woman found dead in her home

An inquest docket was opened at the Putfontein Police Station.

An elderly woman was found dead in her home in Mayfield Extension Five, Putfontein on July 5 around 3pm.

Putfontein SAPS spokesperson Const Raider Ubisi said the woman’s neighbours became worried when they didn’t see her during the day.

“The neighbours then went to check up on the woman. When they knocked on the door there was no response,” said Ubisi.

“They then broke down the security door, entered the house and found the woman lying on the floor next to her bed unconscious.”

Ubisi said police were called and paramedics declared the woman dead on scene.

The cause of her death is unknown.

An inquest docket was opened at the Putfontein Police Station.

Station commander Lt Col Wellington Mathiane thanked the residents for being concerned about each other and encouraged them to report any crime incidents or suspicions.
