Art exhibition peaks public interest at Lakeside Mall

Work exhibited at the event included art from artists Paul Botes and a competition was open to the public wherein they were asked to vote for the best art piece at the exhibition, the winner won a cash prize of R500.

The 12th annual Winter Art Exhibition took place at Lakeside Mall from June 25 to 30.

Members of the public were invited to view artwork from Artists Working Together (AWT), ranging from acrylic to oil paintings and sketches.

Artists exhibiting and present on the day, Sally Lloyd and Susan Smit, said the art exhibition is a good platform for local art to gain exposure.

“We get to promote local artists and sell the art work,” the pair said.

“Anyone who has a passion for art can join AWT.

“There is a screening process to go through before the work is exhibited, but it is a good platform to get exposure.”
