New freezer to make life easier for Benoni CBD feeding scheme

The institution welcomes donations of food (especially bones to make soup), vegetables, clothing, sanitariy towels and toiletries.

Margaret Makhubela, who runs a feeding scheme in Benoni CBD, was very grateful to the Benoni Lions Club when they donated a new freezer.

The feeding scheme located at Dynamic Health Education and Training Institution in Prince’s Avenue, feeds the homeless and underprivileged in the area from Monday to Thursday.

Margaret Makhubela, co-founder of Dynamic Health Education and Training Institution in Prince’s Avenue, was very happy to receive a new freezer donated by the Benoni Lions Club. Margaret thanked Gillian Jones (Benoni Lions Club member) for lending a helping hand.

Margaret said the freezer will help her a lot as she will now be able to cook meals at the institution instead of transporting it from her home in Klippoortjie daily.

“We appreciate the Lions for making our lives easier and thanks to the City Times for sharing our story as more people have come forward and donated food,” said Margaret.

About 200 people benefit from this initiative, which has been running for four years.

All contributions to the scheme are currently funded by Margaret from her personal monthly income.

Gillian Jones, from the Benoni Lions Club, said they decided to donate the freezer after reading the article in the City Times.

“We saw the need to lend a helping hand as we saw the great work she does for the homeless and underprivileged,” said Gillian.

Margaret said they welcome any donations, no donation is small, and appreciate anything given to them.
