The funeral of Johanco Fleischman (19) took place at noon at the NG Kerk on High Road in Pomona earlier today (May 31).
Fleischman died on Sunday (May 26) after sustaining gunshot wounds to the head and upper body in a fatal attack on the N12 Putfontein bridge.

His girlfriend Jessica Kuhn (24) was also killed in the attack after being shot in the upper body.
Hundreds of attendees said their teary goodbyes to Fleischman who was the only son to his parents and the youngest in a family of four.

“Pa is baie lief vir jou,” were the words of the deceased’s father, in a letter that was read out during the service.

A guard of honour was formed by the members of the Benoni and Kempton Park CPF groups present at the sending off.
“We are devastated that these youngsters were senselessly murdered,” said Benoni CPF PRO Marinda Beukes
“We are not just losing our youth but our country (because of crime).”
Kuhn’s funeral will take place tomorrow (June 1), however a family member said the church does not allow photos and press to be present during a funeral or a church service.
