Since Siobhan Hynard (right) was a little girl, her mother Bernice Hynard (left) made Siobhan accompany her to vote. Today (May 8), when Siobhan is old enough to vote, she happily cast her first vote. She is no stranger to the station nor the queue.
Voters readied or already made their mark on May 8 at John Barrable Hall, Star Sun and Northfield Methodist Church.
None of the stations reported any incidents, although it was noted that there was an issue with the scanners at some stations, which delayed the process.
Once the scanners were fixed, the day continued smoothly with voters ready to make a change.
Presiding officer: Collin Mofokeng said they expect about 5 400 people to vote at John Barrable Hall during the course of the day.
Presiding officer: Patricia Labethe said the day had a good start and the lines are flowing consistently. She is expecting a turnout of about 3 500 voters at Northfield Methodist Church.
Presiding officer: Alfred Tlaka from Starsun Import and Export said the voters roll stipulated an estimation of about 3 200 voters, but anyone is welcome to vote at the station as long as they are registered.
