#IMadeMyMark: “I did this for my daughter” – excited voter @ Benoni Town Hall
The City Times was also at the Gauteng East Tennis Club Association and Benoni Baptist Church.
South Africans came out in their numbers to exercise their democratic right to vote and this was no different for Benonians today.
Benoni Town hall was filled with eager voters ready to make their mark earlier today.
With voters dancing and singing at the gate of the voting station, Vathiswa Penxa walked in shouting “I did this for my daughter”.
Owam Penxa (12), Vathiswa’s daughter, said the she was proud of her mother for making her mark.
Vathiswa added that she felt making her mark will contribute towards a better South Africa.
The atmosphere was echoed at the Benoni Baptist Church with social media users saying the voting process was quick and efficient.

Presiding officer from the Benoni Baptist Church Eunice Magopane, said 1500 are registered to vote at the station.
Eunice added that the process was running smooth and hoped it will remain that way.
Meanwhile, presiding Amanda Ndzamela officer at the Tennis Club voting station said: “we have experienced a great turn out as members of the community have been waiting in line as early as 6am.”
According to Ndzamela 1877 people registered to vote and by 10am 708 ballots have been used for both the national and provincial votes.
