SPCA appeals for donations to help injured pit bull pup

Anyone wanting to donate towards the veterinary treatment of the puppy can contact the SPCA on 011 894 2814/5.

The Benoni SPCA confiscated a seven-month-old pit bull terrier from a home in Wattville recently.

The puppy had sustained wounds from being involved in a fight with three other dogs and was left untreated for five days.

Vicky Finnemore, manager of the Benoni SPCA, said the dog was rushed to a local vet where it was stitched up and treated for infection.

“We do not believe this was a case of deliberate dog fighting; however, the dog was neglected after being injured, which is still a criminal offence.

The pit bull puppy which was confiscated in Wattville. It was left injured and untreated for five days after being involved in a fight with three other dogs.

“He is now recovering nicely at the Benoni SPCA,” she said
