[WATCH] Miss Benoni encourages youngsters to vote #IMadeMyMark

The whole experience is exciting. My dad makes it enjoyable because we go in a group and just make the best of the day.

With voting day around the corner (May 8), the City Times caught up with Miss Benoni 2018 Caitlyn Wright to find out what her plans are for the day since she is, unfortunately, not yet old enough to make her mark.

“I only turn 18 in September, but I plan to be in the voting line with my parents,” said Caitlyn.

The Kempton Park resident and Benoni High learner said for as long as she can remember, she has been with her parents when they vote.

“Voting is important because it is our way of having a say in our future in the country.

“It also instils a sense of pride.”

The teen said despite being a Kempton resident, she would like to register to vote in Benoni when she qualifies to vote.

“I live in Benoni but I stay in Kempton,” she said jokingly.

“When I am 18 I will vote because I want to be a part of the change in South Africa.”

Caitlyn encouraged youngsters old enough to vote to do so on May 8.

“The youth are the future generation; to see a change we have to be the change,” she said.

“I look forward to when I can make my mark for the first time and vote for the political party that will contribute to making our country a better place,” she said.
