Daveyton businesswoman donates reusable sanitary pads

413 reusable sanitary pads were donated to needy girls from seven schools in Daveyton.

Every year, Daveyton businesswoman Thembi Moloto dedicates time to give back to needy children in her community.

On April 10 at Marivate Hall in Daveyton, the Bake ‘n Mo Bakery owner donated 413 reusable sanitary pads to needy girls from seven schools in Daveyton.

During the past two years, Moloto has donated school shoes, jerseys, hats and socks to underprivileged learners.

She said this year she decided to donate sanitary pads as many girls miss a few days of school each month because they cannot afford sanitary pads.

“The girls received Palesa Reusable Pads, which can be used for up to five years for less than 20 per cent of the cost of disposable pads,” said Moloto.

“They were given a full explanation about how to use and wash these pads and we provided the learners with lunch packs.”

Moloto said next year she would love to reach out to schools in Etwatwa.
