Etwatwa SAPS reveals crime trends in the area

Tip: Report crime [incidents] as they are used as statistics by the police. If people do not report the crimes in the area, the stats become skewed.

Etwatwa SAPS spokesperson Capt Ramothakhi Maqabe shared crime trends in the various policing sectors.

In Sector one, which covers Winnie Mandela section (Barcelona), assault with the intention to cause grievous bodily harm is the main contributor to the crime statistics in the sector.

Maqabe said most of their incidents occur on Fridays to Sundays from noon to 3am when residents are coming back from taverns or when they are at the taverns and they get involved in fights.

The majority of these crimes took place mostly on weekends between midnight to 3am.
