BFS make several arrests over weekend

Investigations continue in all cases.

A busy weekend of policing by the Benoni Flying Squad (BFS) members led to 17 arrests and the recovery of one vehicle.

“Members arrested 11 suspects for alleged assault charges in Emangweni and Vusi Musi Sections in Tembisa, Kirschner Street in Brentwood Park and Daveyton at Zulu, Gcaleka, Mbele and Mocke streets,” said BFS spokesperson WO Grant Giblin.

Giblin added that two more arrests were made in Farrarmere.

“Two suspects were arrested and their silver Renault Clio impounded after they were found in possession of property stolen in Cambridge Street,” he said.

“In Freedom Drive, Ivory Park, a suspect was arrested for alleged drunken driving and in Ramza Street, Daveyton, an arrest was made for contravening a Protection Order.”

They made the last two arrests for dealing in drugs when suspects were allegedly found in possession of over a kilogram of dagga in Esiphetweni Section, Tembisa and 10 packets of Cat (cocaine) in Freedom Drive, Rabie Ridge.

Members of the community are encouraged to report any suspicious activity or any information to their local police station or contact 10111.

The suspects, aged 23 to 54 years, will be appearing in their local magistrate’s courts facing charges of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, common assault, contravening a Protection Order, dealing in dagga, dealing in drugs, driving under the influence of alcohol, possession of stolen goods, theft and possession of housebreaking equipment.
