Benoni Art Route to dazzle art lovers

Mervitz reiterated that the Benoni Art Route takes place every three months, with exhibitions due to happen again in June, September and December.

The Benoni Art Route which is held every three months, took place recently at four venues across Benoni, namely, the Art Alive Studio in Northmead, Alistairs Art Gallery in Rynfield, Paul Botes Studio in Farrarmere and Cherrylane Gourmet Café in Northmead.

Local artist Larry Mervitz, who exhibited her artwork at Cherrylane, opted to do a live painting on the day, much to the enjoyment of visitors.

“It’s always good to be open-minded and experience new things, which is something art teaches you,” said local resident Mervin Coetzer.

“I find art to be very realistic, expressive and deep.

“It also allows people to be true to themselves.”

Jessica Eley (10) said while she wasn’t sure if she wanted to be an artist one day, the colours used and techniques stirred her curiosity.

“The colours are awesome and painting does interest me,” she said.
