A case of concealment of birth was opened after a newborn baby was found near Birch Road, Benoni AH on March 6, around 8.30am.
Crystal Park SAPS spokesperson Const Alex Mokete said the baby was found by a resident who allegedly saw a plastic bag which had blood in it and he became suspicious of what was inside.

“The resident went to look and when he saw that there was a baby next to the plastic, he went to a nearby house to ask if they can call the police,” said Mokete.
Mokete added that the paramedics declared the baby dead on scene.
No one has been arrested in connection with the crime.
Police are appealing to anyone with information to come forward.
