The Bredell resident told Horticultural Society members everyone must bring out their personalities in their garden.

“When you plant in your garden you must understand what you have in your garden, know whether your plants need the sun or shade, look after your soil and water your garden,” said Buff.

Members of the Benoni Horticultural Society Kathleen Carter, Carroll Duntu and Agie Nortier enjoyed the talk by Alan Buff during their monthly meeting on February 16 at the Four Seasons Nursery.

“Blend the colours in your garden, for example, for your orange to yellow.”

Buff also mentioned the importance of nitrogen in your plants.

Debbie Jones and Shirley Helsdon enjoyed the talk presented by Alan Buff.

“For plants, nitrogen is the nutrient in most demand – but too much is as bad as too little,” he said.

He shared some of the plants that can be planted in winter: sweet peas, perpetual spinach, parsley, irises, spring onions, pansies, Livingstone daisies, nemesias and California poppies.
