Two stolen vehicles recovered in Etwatwa

The truck and its cargo were taken to the SAPS Van Ryn Deep pound for safekeeping and further investigations.

The EMPD Equestrian Unit members recovered a hijacked truck in Etwatwa with a cargo worth R2-million still intact.

“On the morning of February 19, members were alerted to a truck hijacked in the Vaal carrying a cargo of electrical equipment,” said EMPD chief superintendent Wilfred Kgasago.

“The vehicle was found abandoned on the N12 at the Etwatwa offramp after our members traced its tracking coordinates.

“The cargo was found intact in the abandoned truck.

“A six-fin jammer, used to throw off the tracker system, was also left in the hijacked truck,” he explained.

In another incident on February 20, at around 5.45am, the Equestrian Unit members recovered a Toyota Siyaya minibus in Etwatwa.

“The minibus had been stolen in Middelburg and was recovered with the assistance of its tracking coordinates,” Kgasago said.

The vehicle was also towed to the SAPS Van Ryn Deep Pound for further investigations.
