On November 19, the EMPD Equestrian and K9 units recovered a hijacked vehicle in Crystal Park and made progress in the recovery of another vehicle, allegedly used in several other robberies.
“The EMPD Equestrian and K9 units were given the GPS coordinates following a white Toyota Avanza which was recovered in Crystal Park around 11am,” said EMPD spokesperson Chief Supt Wilfred Kgasago.

“Two suspects were arrested at the residence.
“While conducting a search, our members also came across a white VW Polo on the property in Crystal Park that had reportedly been involved in a series of ATM robberies.”
The three arrested suspects (all aged in their 30s) were detained at Crystal Park Police Station on charges of possession of a hijacked vehicle and were scheduled to appear in the Benoni Magistrate’s Court.
“Investigations regarding the VW Polo are underway,” Kgasago said.
Both vehicles were towed to the SAPS Van Ryn Deep Pound.
