“The learners get the opportunity to visit a recording studio and record their songs onto a CD,” said teacher, owner and organiser of the show Lizette de Klerk.

“All the students participate in solo and group items and most use choreographed moves.

“Some of the students also have back-up dancers performing with them.”

Lizette said The Barnyard is a fantastic and intimate venue and besides giving the children the amazing opportunity to perform on a Barnyard stage, it creates a very relaxed atmosphere for the audience.

“My aim with this concert is to give my learners the opportunity to showcase what they have learnt … and to perform on a proper stage with all the ‘trimmings’ that professionals have, such as dancers, costumes, professional lighting, sound and DVD recording.”

This year, 75 children took part in the show.

“It’s a privilege to spoil these children who probably never get the opportunity to attend a show at The Barnyard,” Lizette said.
