“With its focus on family, yearly traditions, expectations, social events and ‘cheer’, the festive season can blindside one.

“Knowing what to expect and being prepared can lessen the emotional impact,” said Denise.

To help those in need, GriefShare is hosting a free Surviving the Christmas Season session at Northfield Methodist Church.

“The session is made up of a video and discussion in a safe environment and includes a ‘survival guide’ with daily encouragement and helpful information for the festive season,” Denise explained.

“These tools enable one not only to survive the coming season but also to face it with a measure of peace and assurance.
