Thousands raised with sale of Lions cakes at City Times office

The majority of the cakes were sold at our office, at Northmead Square, and a few at the recent City Times Cuppa for Cansa event.

Winner of the Lions Christmas Cakes draw, Michael Swart, was ecstatic to pop into the City Times office to receive his R800 dinner voucher redeemable at Aurelia's Restaurant, Emperors Palace. With Isabela Kirsten, Swart said he has never won anything before so this is a once in a lifetime experience for him.

The City Times successfully sold 68 Lions Christmas Cakes on behalf of three local clubs, bringing in R7 480 through this initiative.

Benoni Lakes Lions Club, Benoni Van Rhyn Lions Club and Benoni Lions Club, were the beneficiaries of the money.

Our thanks go to each and every member of the public who supported our call to buy cakes at the office, and especially to Protea Jennings, from George Rennie, who bought 24 cakes.
