New principal at Woodlands International College 2019
Woodlands International College is an independent, co-educational, non-denominational private school spanning Grades 000-12, and located over two tranquil yet dynamic campuses in Boksburg, on the East Rand.
After 14 years of service the Principal of the Senior College will be retiring at the end of 2018. Finding a worthy successor represented a major challenge for the school Board. Of great consequence was the requirement that the successful candidate be closely aligned with the Woodlands ethos, represent a comfortable cultural fit with its existing members of staff, and share the vision of the Directors over the next decade of the College becoming a benchmarkable educational facility.
Says Founding Director, Ronnie Matthews, “We have always viewed the Woodlands concept as an enduring one that would be capable of embracing generations to come.”
The Directors were pleased to appoint Mr Chris van Niekerk as the Principal Designate of the Senior College, effective 2019.
Currently the outgoing Founding Principal at Founders Hill College, he formerly taught at Sandringham High School, St Benedict’s College, and St Dunstan’s College.
A past IEB sub-examinor on a national level for Grade 12 Business Studies, he is also a well-respected commentator in a number of education-related articles, and prides himself on keeping current with trends in education.
Mr van Niekerk holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Industrial Psychology, a Postgraduate Certificate in Education, and the BED Honours in Educational Management and Leadership.
Says van Niekerk, “I am thrilled to join Woodlands International College next year, and look forward to building on the sound academic and co-curricular credentials that have been established since inception in 2002. I am excited at joining hands with the Board of Directors, the school staff and the Woodlands community to cement Woodlands as the leading International school in this region”.
