Take weather warnings seriously says Ekurhuleni DEMS Ntladi

Remain alert at all times.

The Ekurhuleni Disaster and Emergency Management Services (DEMS) stated they are prepared to match the challenges that might be experienced as a result of severe weather conditions.

William Ntladi, DEMS district manager media liaison, said it is important for communities to be on high alert when weather warnings are issued.

“Thunderstorms are violent weather phenomena that can be linked with lightning, flash floods and very strong winds and hail, and communities are advised to be on high alert.

“Low-lying areas are prone to floods and people are advised to take extra precautions as a result,” Ntladi said.

“In case of emergencies dial 011 458 0911, 10177 or 112 to reach local emergency services.

“Ensure that you have the emergency call centre telephone numbers saved and visible on your telephone or cellphone.

“Speak clearly on the phone when reporting an emergency and provide the operators with all the necessary details.

“Do not end the conversation until all questions are answered,” said Ntladi.
