Man assaults girlfriend in Putfontein

A case of assault GBH was opened at the Putfontein Police Station.

A 33-year-old man has been arrested for assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm (GBH) on October 19 in Putfontein.

Putfontein SAPS spokesperson Const Justice Ramaube said it is alleged the man assaulted his girlfriend at a Tavern in Mocke Street, Daveyton.

“According to the victim, a fight broke out between them when she asked the boyfriend why he didn’t sleep at home the previous night,” said Ramaube.

“It is alleged the man dragged his girlfriend outside where he hit her with a brick on her head.”

Ramaube said the couple then walked to catch a taxi to their residential place in Mayfield.

“When they got home the man further assaulted the victim with a hammer on her forehead until she was rescued by the neighbours.”

She sustained severe head injuries and was transported to a local hospital.
