Schools set for improvements in maths and science

e-Learning introduced at school

The Belvedere Resource Centre introduced their e-learning project in mathematics and science recently.

The pilot project will be run in three schools, Etwatwa Secondary School, Liverpool Secondary School and Ephes Mamkeli Secondary School.

This initiative is targeted at Grade 11 and 12 learners.

There will be two sessions, one from 8am to 9pm and the other from 3pm to 4pm.

Each session will be an interactive lesson between the teacher and two classes.

According to Francis Kalp, from e-learning Ligbron, learners are given a test before the session and after the session.

”This is done to test how much the learner knows before the lessons and if they have grasped what they have been taught during the lesson,” said Kalp.

Each lesson is recorded making it easier for learners to use it as a reference once the session is over.

According to Kalp, from e-learning Ligbron, about 81 schools are part of this programme.

This initiative is funded by the Department of Education.
