Pretoria Road nowhere near completion

Frustration continues on Pretoria Road

According to the contractor, who would not like to be named, the roadworks were stopped on October 15 due to the subcontractor demanding more money, which had already been paid to them by the client.

“They are not allowed to stop the project, we had to call in the EMPD for assistance.”

The contractor said a meeting was held with all the parties involved and now await a response from the client regarding what steps need to be taken “going forward”.

Ward 27 councillor, Jacques Meiring, confirmed the EMPD officers were on the scene.

“We called the EMPD to come and open the gates,” he said.

“This is not the first time this is happening. They are already behind schedule, and if they continue to do this we will continue to bring in re-enforcements.”

Meiring stated that the subcontractor is not allowed to stop the project, and they should follow the correct procedure when addressing civil matters related to the contractor or client.
