Man wanted in connection with fatal Benoni AH collision

Police are investigating a case of culpable homicide.

Police are searching for the driver of an Isuzu bakkie who is wanted in connection with a fatal road accident which occurred at the corner of Evans and Benoni roads, Benoni Agricultural Holdings on October 29, 2010.

According to police reports, there was a collision between the Isuzu bakkie and a Fiat Palio sedan at about 11.10pm.

The driver of the Fiat Palio sedan sustained injuries and was transported to hospital for further treatment.

The 40-year-old driver of the bakkie was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and culpable homicide.

Benoni SAPS spokesperson Captain Nomsa Sekele said when the man was supposed to appear in court, he never showed up.

“Summonses were issued for the man to appear in court and now a warrant for his arrest has also been issued,” said Sekele.

The driver of the other vehicle succumbed to his injuries on December 14, 2010.
