Millennial Masterclasses at Lakeside Mall

These Millennial Masterclasses will be held every last Saturday of the month.

The Daveyton Book Club, in association with Lakeside Mall, will host their first Millennial Masterclass on October 27.

The book club is in need of sponsorships: T-shirts for attendees, welcome drinks, snacks and goodie bags, programmes, branding, ten social media influencers, photographer and videographer.

The co-founder of the Daveyton Book Club Kwandile Sikhosana said the aim of the event is to empower young people and provide them with tools and skills for a fulfilling life.

“These masterclasses will help us breed a generation with a different kind of magic altogether,” said Sikhosana.

“This platform will promote and encourage a community of thriving individuals from all sectors.”

He added that Millennial Masterclasses are a series of lectures or tutorials taught by people with expert knowledge or skill in a particular area.

“These Masterclasses are targeted at the millennias, also known as Generation Y, who were born in the early 1980s, mid 1990s to 2000s.”

Sarah Madingwana, co-founder of the book club, said not only will this platform allow young people to network, but there will be an exchange of opportunities and information sharing among the youth.

“The masterclass will also include a session of a book review, or a presentation on mental health and other topics,” said Madingwana.

The club seeks to address illiteracy by establishing mini-libraries and book clubs for disadvantaged communities through partnerships with community developers across the country.

The organisation hosts various campaigns, from feeding the homeless and clothing street kids to providing free basic project management training, computer skills and entrepreneurship.

These Millennial Masterclasses will be held every last Saturday of the month.

Entrance is free, RSVP by October 21.
