Old People’s Home in Benoni Town springs into the season

The Old People’s Home hosted its annual Spring Day on September 8 at the premises in Howard Avenue.

Boerewors rolls were on sale, there was a beer tent and, of course, the coffee shop was open for all to support.

Remax also made it possible for the youngsters who visited their loved ones to enjoy the day by providing a jumping castle for entertainment while candidate attorney Jenna-Lee Olver explained the importance and benefits of having a living will to guests.

“Anyone from the age of 16 or older can have a will. A will is important because it stipulates where your assets and possessions go after you die.”

Olver explained anyone from the age of 14 can sign as a witness in the will, however, whoever signed as a witness cannot be a beneficiary of anything in the will.

She also explained the will must be signed by the person owning the will because it will be invalid if signed on behalf of them.

“I am here to help, I will visit you and help you to sort out your will free of charge,” she said to the residents.

Once all the serious talk was done, the residents participated in a Spring Walk which they also made spring hats for.

Then they enjoyed the rest of the day with their loved ones.
