Volunteer firefighter of Benoni dies in cliff fall

A funeral service for Loedolff will be held at the Jubilate Church, Wordsworth Road, Farrarmere, at 11am on August 31.

Quintin Loedolff (28), a volunteer firefighter for the Benoni CPF, died after falling from a cliff between Pilgrim’s Rest and Orighstad, where he was leading a weekend motorbike ride, on August 25.

His motorbike apparently slipped on gravel, resulting in the fatal fall.

Loedolff died on impact.

His mother, Annatjie Loedolff, described her only child as a very homely person who was quiet, helpful and friendly.

“Quintin worked with the Benoni CPF for about seven years. He was an IT specialist and one of the most helpful people you will ever come across.

“He was still living with me at home and he was my all,” said the grieving mother.
