Security guard shot, robbed of gun at Apex Station

No arrests have been made.

A security guard was shot and injured at the Apex railway station on August 12 at around 8.30pm.

Netcare 911 spokesperson Shawn Herbst said the security guard was shot in his upper body and was found to be in a critical condition.

“The man, believed to be in his 30s‚ was airlifted to Union Hospital,” said Herbst.

Ekurhuleni Central Cluster spokesperson Captain Nomsa Sekele said a case of attempted murder and armed robbery has been opened at the Brakpan Police Station.

“It is alleged that he was ambushed by four men who shot him and robbed him of his firearm,” said Sekele.
