Success comes to those who … write

Writing the book was an impulsive decision.

Salome Beukes is a Farrarmere resident who recently published her first book, A Predator’s Touch.

“I approached two publishers before the third publishing company gave me the opportunity,” said Salome.

The story revolves around a character by the name of Mark Miller, a playboy enjoying life to the fullest … until his 30th birthday approaches.

“At this point, his brother, Victor, tells him that he also carries ‘The Miller Curse’,” explained Salome.

“The curse only affects the second-born sons in the family, enabling them to shape-shift into an animal.

“As soon as Mark starts shape-shifting, he will die shortly after, unless he finds true love.”

Mark is attracted to a woman but she isn’t interested in a relationship and constantly ignores his advances … until a secret society learns about his shape-shifting ability and kidnaps Mark.

Will his true love find him in time before he draws his last breath?

Find out as the storyline takes the reader on a journey of love, secrets, hope, self-discovery and trust.

The book is categorised as a fantasy romance, but more specifically paranormal romance.

Salome said writing has always been in her blood.

“I used to write poems and short stories since my younger years in school,” she explained.

“After I married my husband, Derick, I stopped working and this led to an impulsive decision to write this book.”

According to the young author, she wasn’t guided by plot or any kind of specific inspiration, only an impulse to write a book.

“I started the book in July, last year, and completed it by November,” Salome said.

“Everyone should have an artistic outlet; I just used mine and wrote this story.”

She is already in the process of publishing a sequel, A Predator’s Kiss, but said part one must be read in order to understand the sequel.
