One suspect arrested following a Putfontein business robbery

Police are investigating a case of business robbery.

One of the three men suspected of robbing a business entity in Putfontein was arrested shortly after the commission of the crime on July 13.

The business on Kerk Street was robbed at about 10am.

Putfontein SAPS spokesperson Constable Justice Ramaube said according to the complainant, he was on duty when he was approached by three unknown men who wore balaclavas. They demanded money from him.

“One of the suspects who was armed pointed his colleague with the firearm and took her cellphone,

“The alleged suspects then went to the storeroom, opened the safe and took an undisclosed amount of money”, said Ramaube.

The three fled the scene.

Ramaube said the police were notified about the incident and immediately chased after the suspects.

The 29-year-old man was arrested by Detective Sergeant Moswarishend Mokofane and Detective Constable Vusi Masango a few meters away from the business scene.

He was found to be in possession of a magazine with six unlicensed live ammunition.

A case of business robbery has been opened at the Putfontein Police Station.

The suspect is expected to appear in the Benoni Magistrate’s Court soon.
