New leadership for Benoni Rotary Aurora

Rotary Aurora Club is a close-knit community of individuals who wish to serve and put others before themselves.

Aurora held its induction of its new president at a venue in Northmead on Friday (July 6).

The celebration was held to welcome their new president Brian Moseley, who was inducted by past president Lindy van Moerkerken.

Moseley set the tone for Aurora’s 2018/19 year, stating he wants the club to “go back to old ways”.

As the theme of “inspiration” was echoed into the night for the year ahead, Moseley said he wanted more involvement from members.

This is in a bid to incorporate fellowship and fun, build long-standing relationships and engage members of the youth to be actively involved at the club.

He added he was grateful for the contribution of all members and wishes to continue the good work of van Moerkerken, who is held in high esteem.

Aurora is affiliated to Rotary International, which boasts a global community of 1.3 million members.

One of the primary objectives of the club is to serve society, ensure goodwill and peace in service and business and to always be generous.

Rotaract’s handover was presented by past Rotaract president Nikita Colaço to elected president Marcé van Moerkerken.

Colaco was awarded the Mike Foreman Memorial Trophy for Rotaract Club of the Year in District 9400.

Her contributions included the Barcelona Community Project in Daveyton and the Nurturing Nature project in Northmead and at Homestead Dam.

Lindy van Moerkerken was appointed Rotary Club of Benoni Aurora’s board chair for public relations and communications for 2018/19.

She reminded the club of their mission statement, “Service Above Self” and thanked her past committee members for their contributions in 2017/18.
