SANBS at Northmead Square

Don't be square, donate blood!

The South African National Blood Service (SANBS) is hosting a blood drive at Northmead Square this week.

Margaret Nieman and her son, Jack, from Crystal Park, were among the first candidates to donate at the pop-up stand, on Monday (July 2).

Jack has been donating blood since he was in Grade Ten and said he enjoys it and does so regularly, ideally every six months.

Margaret said her son inspired her to donate.

“If it can save a life then why not?” she said.

“If we can make time for work and other routines then we should be able to make time to do good things for others and doing a good deed for someone else is awesome.”

Edwin Majoro, a SANBS donor recruiter, said members of the public are welcome to come through to donate.

“We will be open daily from 9am and we are here until Saturday ( July 7),” he explained.
