In the spirit of June 16, youngsters from the Children’s Hope Foundation cleaned up the Benoni Plaza on Saturday (June 16).
The clean-up was done in conjunction with Inner-City Ministry, from Kempton Park.

The youngsters from Daveyton, Etwatwa and Reiger Park sang as they walked from the White House Healing Centre, in Cranbourne Avenue, to the Benoni Plaza, escorted by the EMPD.
Khaya Mnyanda, of the Children’s Hope Foundation, said they chose to clean the Benoni Plaza because most young people who are drug addicts or involved in gangsterism end up in places like the plaza.

“We want to create awareness about what is happening in our CBD. We are planting a seed with the youth about the importance of taking care of our city,” said Mnyanda.
“As an organisation we want to show young people that when you make wrong choices in life, you will end up staying under the bridge or in places like the plaza.”

Mnyanda said they encourage other churches and organisations to work together to help make Benoni cleaner and safer.
