The blog (Learning to Trust Again) is somewhat unique in that not only do I write about my husband’s indiscretions, he now also contributes from his point of view so people can understand the experiences of being cheated on and also the world of the person doing the cheating.

What inspired you to start this blog three years ago?

Writing has always been my passion so it became a form of therapy for me.

Over the past 15 years, I wrote over 200 letters to my husband and when I noticed many of them starting to tear and fade, I decided to store them electronically.

The blog idea, surprisingly, was my hubby’s idea, although he is a very private person.

The response we got from our first few posts became the driving force behind our decision to make this blog public.

I met my husband 15 years ago, we married three years later and are blessed with three amazing children.

What would you say is the most difficult part of forgiveness?

You have to forgive because you want closure and not just for the sake of it.

Forgiveness has to come from within or else the memories just consume you.

With forgiveness comes great healing and you forgive not only for them but for your own sanity.

What advice would you give to married couples facing infidelity?

Fight for your relationship if the person who has wronged you is willing to change.

I’m not saying all marriages are worth fighting for, but most of the time a marriage just needs the chance to win back your trust.

What are your future plans and goals?

We have just completed a six month summarised version of our story stemming from the blog in The Muslim Woman Magazine.

We (my husband and I) are working on a book which is to be released later this year with the help of the Tales of the Sisterhood – this is the platform I first shared my story on.
