Daveyton businesswoman gives back to the community

Every year, Thembi Moloto dedicates herself to giving back to needy children in the community.

“Sharing the little that I have with all of you gives me great joy.”

These were the words of Thembi Moloto, owner of Bake n’ Mo Bakery in Daveyton.

Every year, Moloto dedicates herself to giving back to needy children in the community.

“On March 27, it was my birthday and I decided that instead of throwing a party with friends and family members, I would rather share with those who don’t have,” she said.

This year Moloto donated 88 pairs of school shoes, jerseys, hats, socks and sanitary towels to needy children from 13 schools in Daveyton.

The celebration was held at the Daveyton Youth Centre on June 8.

Moloto said she started donating shoes to learners in 2013.

She shared a few words of wisdom with the learners.

“I love you all so much and that is why I want to share what I have with you. You are important and valuable to the community,” said Moloto.

She said this year she decided to take to do things differently. Instead of taking about five learners from each school, she decided to give to the learners who stay closer to the bakery.

“They say charity begins at home and I saw the need to give back to those who have supported the bakery from the beginning, said Moloto.

Throughout the day the learners sang and danced, while the master of ceremonies and executive director of Black Diamond, Mzandile Jongwe, entertained them.

Nompumelelo Khumalo, a Grade One learner at Gugulesizwe Primary School said she is thankful to Moloto for giving her new school shoes and a jersey to keep her warm this winter.

Actor and comedian Vusi Oscar Mgudlwa, who is famously known as Madluphuthu, applauded Moloto for giving back to the community and for giving the learners hope.

He told the learners to believe in their dreams as God has plans for each and every one of us.

“Your friend might succeed now, but that doesn’t mean you won’t make it – your time is coming,” said Mgudlawa.
