According to EMPD spokesperson chief superintendent Wilfred Kgasago, EMPD Equestrian Unit members stopped the motorbike driver during a routine patrol on June 2.

“Upon investigation, they discovered the motorbike had been reported stolen in Linden, Johannesburg, in March,” Kgasago said.

“The driver of the motorbike – a 125cc Big Boy – claimed that the bike was his and its papers were at his house.

“He was immediately arrested. The bike was confiscated and taken to the SAPS Van Ryn Deep pound in Benoni for further investigations and safekeeping.”

The suspect was detained at the Crystal Park Police Station over the weekend.
