IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Hop in to this fun day to help bunny sterilisation project

The bunnies need to be sterilised and find homes.

And there’s a bunny for you, and a bunny for you, and a bunny for you … just kidding, but there really are many stray bunnies that need to be sterilised so homes can be found for them.

Local bunny lover, Tania Forrest-Smith of Northmead, has joined forces with the owners of Be Art Tattoos in Pretoria Road, Adam Steel and his wife, Tamara Sun, to raise funds to sterilise the bunnies that are brought to her.

“People just drop off bunnies at my house and I will not turn any bunny away,” Forrest-Smith said.

“I have found a veterinary hospital in Boksburg, which has agreed to sterilise them at an excellent rate.”

Forrest-Smith, who also works closely with the Benoni SPCA, says she is grateful to Adam and Tamara for stepping up to help the furry animals.

“We were looking for a community project and figured that we can help the bunnies at the same time,” Steel explained.

As a result, the couple made contact with Forrest-Smith and together they intend on raising funds for the sterilisation of the bunnies.

On June 30, Be Art Tattoos – in conjunction with Grid and Grill and Rockford Media – will host a fun day at the restaurant, in Pretoria Road, where the community can visit the craft shops, explore vintage treasures, see classic cars, enjoy live bands and see an exhibition of art from the Benoni Art Route.

Entrance will be R60 per person.

Tania Forrest-Smith expresses her love and affection for one of the bunnies.
