The 2019 online application process for Grades One and Eight closed at midnight on May 28.
All applicants are now urged to submit documents to the schools to which they applied on or before June 5.
The Gauteng Department of Education (GDE) spokesperson, Steve Mabona, said over 535 000 applications were received by the cut-off.

“Of these, over 251 000 are Grade One applications and over 285 000 are Grade Eight applications.”
Mabona said the processing of placement will commence and parents will receive an SMS on July 18.
The GDE opened the 2019 online application system for admissions on April 16.
