Grand finale countdown begins for Rynfield’s Miss SA hopeful

Tick tock, tick tock.

As the hour draws nearer for Miss South Africa to be announced, our own Benonian Danielle de Jager will make her way to Time Square in Pretoria to await the announcement of the winner.

This year, the Miss SA pageant organisers have made a change to the structure of the announcement of the winners.

Traditionally, the top five was chosen and from there, the second princess, first princess and winner were announced.

However, this year, following the cut to the top five finalists, the organisers will go straight to a top two announcement.

One of these two women will be named Miss World South Africa and the other Miss Universe South Africa.

Both will go on to represent South Africa on the global stage in each respective competition.

The two will then answer a question from one of the judges and the Miss SA 2018 will be chosen based on their answer.

“If I win, I will firstly say a silent prayer of thanks,” said Danielle.

“I want to use this platform to teach others that they should take a stand and to believe in their dreams.”

The 20-year-old, who resides in Port Elizabeth due to her studies, but returns to her Rynfield home during the holidays, said she is proud of the 11 new “sisters” she has gained during this journey.

“Everyone has their own race to run and I am glad there was no animosity in this pageant,” she added.

“This pageant is deeper than beauty and I hope to inspire others through it.”

All the best Danielle, make Benoni proud.
