Local store eases washday burden for NGO

Lending a helping hand to the community.

Local appliance store Masons, situated in Woburn Avenue, in conjunction with Defy Appliances, donated a 17kg top loader washing machine to Madressah Tul Banaat on May 22.

Madressah Tul Banaat is home to more than 75 orphaned girls, 19 elderly people, frail care patients, divorced and destitute women.

The non-profit organisation, based in Nigel, was founded in 1994 by Bhai and Farieda Ismail.

Gauteng divisional manager for Defy Appliances Willie Cronjé said they donated the washing machine to celebrate women and recognise the hard work they do.

“This is about assisting and making a difference in the community and to also celebrate unsung heroes,” he said.

The founder of the home, Farieda Ismail, said they are very grateful for the donation as it will make a difference, especially to the elderly people at the home.

“We do washing on a regular basis for the elderly and the washing machine will make things a lot easier,” she said.

The home welcomes any donations.
