“I am here today to tell my story about what led me to this point.”

Hani said she recently wrote a book entitled Being Chris Hani’s daughter and in her book she writes about the blessings and curses of being Chris Hani’s daughter.

“It is a blessing because I am proud of my father and what he achieved, but it was also a curse because I felt like there was a lot of expectation,” she said.

Lindiwe, who is a recovering addict, said the history of South Africa needs to be preserved because destroying the artefacts does not change the fact that the past happened.

“People knew my father as a leader, not as my father; it was not only a tragic loss for South Africa but for the Hani family too,” she said.

“Several schools were invited to the event which was also combined with the celebration of Africa Day (May 25),” said research officer at the museum Mpume Khamis.
