#knowyourbenoni – Miss Eagle SA brand ambassador aspires to inspire

Meet Kehrisha Pillay who wants aims to inspire.

Miss Eagle SA’s brand ambassador (Mesa) and Farrarmere resident Kehrisha Pillay (21) hopes to win the pageant to help young girls to be comfortable in their own skin.

BCT: Tell us about Mesa

KP: Mesa is the largest “beauty with brains and purpose” contest in history and has shaped me into being even more confident in what I do and how I encourage other young women around me.

Mesa has provided me, as well as the hundreds of contestants spread across the country, an incredible platform.

Through Mesa, I was able to grow and develop to be an even stronger individual than I already was and I cannot wait to educate our young girls about the fact that you can succeed in anything you set your mind on.

BCT: What made you decide to help the youth?

KP: The youth need to realise that society should not shape their frame of thought and how and who they accept.

In my teen years, I always cared about what people thought and who would accept me. However, Mesa is a platform that allows us to educate and encourage young girls to believe not only in themselves but also in one another.

I never thought that one day I would be an ambassador for such a prestigious pageant but here I am. Mesa has given me that confidence boost that has pushed me to share my story to encourage all.

I help girls by trying to encourage them and teach them about uplifting each other, rather than tearing one another down.

BCT: Who or what inspired you to become a woman of such influence?

KP: I am and have always been, surrounded by strong-minded and independent women like my mother, Dian Pillay; my sisters, Sarushka Pillay and Samira Ramkelewan; my grandmother, Devi Pillay as well as my aunties, Marlene Ramkelewan and Vijay Fryer.

They have been great examples of how to be an independent woman and how to know your worth in this world.

My boyfriend, Remone Chetty, has been a huge influence and inspiration in my life.

BCT: What are your plans?

KP: I plan on furthering my make-up business, my degree and becoming Miss Eagle South Africa Empress.

How can the community vote for you to achieve this dream?

I can win the public choice award if people SMS Kehrisha to 35334.
