Ever wondered who in Benoni is a collector and fan of the royal family?

Glynis Cox Millett-Clay is not only our personal historian who knows the history of Benoni, she is also well informed about the royal family and looks forward to watching the royal wedding on Saturday (May 19).

“When Prince Charles and Princess Diana got married, my sister and I baked and watched the wedding the entire day,” Millett-Clay said as she reminisced about the moment.

“I will be watching this wedding from 10am on Saturday because I do not want to miss anything.”

Millett-Clay thanks her late aunt Dorothy for giving some of the items to her, but the rest, she began to collect.

Her roots date back to London despite Millett-Clay living in Benoni for the past 40 years.

“I have been collecting since I moved to Benoni from Bloemfontein,” she said.

The Farrarmere resident is a collector of plates, magazines, books, tea towels, Jubilee silver, diamond and sapphire coins, badges and a tea caddy to name a few of the royal merchandise she has.

“I have a whole cupboard that is filled with royal memorabilia,” said Millett-Clay.
