UPDATE: Two more suspects arrested in connection with cash-in-transit heist

A security guard sustained head injuries during the attack and another was injured in the leg.

Police have arrested two more suspects following the cash-in-transit heist on the corner of Atlas and North Rand roads yesterday (May 17).

The two men were arrested on May 17.

These arrests bring to seven the number of suspects now in custody.

Five suspects were arrested yesterday at the George Goch Hostel in Jeppestown.

A security guard sustained head injuries during the attack and another was injured in the leg.

The SAPS provincial spokesperson, Captain Mavela Masondo, said police recovered two rifles, a vehicle and some of the stolen money.

Ekurhuleni Central Cluster spokesperson Capt Nomsa Sekele confirmed that the seven suspects are detained at the Benoni Police Station.
