“This is to honour him as one of the headmasters who has made a difference in the community,” said Glen Holmes, the stake president of the church.

Holmes said Ceronio played a role in encouraging freedom of religion among the youth and allowing the youth to grow academically, physically and spiritually.

“We need more of his kind in our world, to give the youth a moral compass,” said Holmes.

Ceronio was pleasantly surprised and thanked the church for acknowledging his efforts.

“It is a great honour and privilege to have been a part of the Benoni High family for 28 years and I’m pleased I am still involved in education,” he said.

“As they say, you can move away from home but you will always be part of the family.”

Ceronio added that what he missed the most about school was the children and developing a special bond with them.

“You learn so much – compassion, forgiveness, loyalty, humility and unbelievable understanding.”
