Benoni SAPS spokesperson Capt Nomsa Sekele corrected information she gave to the City Times regarding two police officers who were arrested and granted bail.

The information given was that the two constables who were arrested on Mercury Street on March 2 were granted bail.
This information is incorrect and the two constables who were charged with corruption, extortion and intimidation were denied bail.
They are due to reappear in court in May.
Sekele said the two officers who were granted bail were the constables who were arrested in November 2017 for allegedly shooting at a fisherman at the Civic Lake.
