A local church, the Word of Life Family Church Compassionate Ministries is giving back to the community by helping the homeless around the Benoni CBD.

The feeding scheme is held every Saturday morning at the church on Tom Jones Street.
Members of the church prepare meals for more than 40 people.
Clifhampton Pillay said the church started the feeding scheme not only to feed the hungry but also to speak the word of Jesus Christ.
“We don’t only feed the homeless, but we also feed those in genuine need,” said Pillay.
The church started the feeding scheme six years ago.
Pillay said that since starting the scheme, they’ve been purely funded by volunteers.
“Donations of food and financial help are always needed.”
Anyone who wants to volunteer can visit the church every Saturday morning.
