Eager dogs drag their owners around Northmead

Over R13 000 was raised.

Runners, walkers and overexcited dogs braved wet conditions to raise funds for The Animal Guardians (Tag) on March 21.

The Benoni Northern Athletic Club hosted Tag’s Annual Spay Day fund-raiser, which began at Benoni Northerns and raised R13 600 for the Cloverdene-based animal rescue organisation.

Participants took part in a 3km or 5km walk or run through the streets of Northmead.

The directors of The Animal Guardians (Tag), Caren Eames, Annalise Jungmann and Kate O’Neill. In Eames’ words, they are posing with the MDs (main dogs) of Tag, Phoenix and Zeke.
Eric Ladbrooke would run the Comrades Marathon with Sam and Rusty if he could.
Marion Bailey joined those at the walk.
Macaela Bezuidenhout (15) is licked by Champ. She is with Cameron (15) and Stuart Tonkin.
Lindsay Gloag, of Bonaero Park, gives her pooch, Lexi, a smooch.
Gavin Pereira, of Northmead, walks Lucy and Squamish. He adopted Squamish who belonged to the late Barry McCallum, a Western Extension resident.
