I think it will be beneficial to those residents in the area because they have a long trip to make to get to a mall. I do not think traffic will be a big problem either.
With news of the Benoni Mega Mall development still on the cards, we asked Benonians whether they feel there is a need for a development of this nature.
Sherryl Eaton, Northmead: It might be – it is a toss-up. If it is developed it might get busier. On the other hand, it is a tough question because people do like having open spaces.
Shane Gardiner, Lakefield: No, we should rather revive the CBD than have malls built. It would be a much better idea to revamp the CBD and get business flourishing in that area.
Lethamaga Kanyane, Crystal Park: From a Crystal Park point of view, not entirely. Perhaps Bredell residents will benefit. We have enough shops in the area and I will only pop in if I happen to be in the area.
Joy Dean, Rynfield: What crossed my mind is that the population is not very dense, so where will the customers be drawn from? There are already big chain outlets in the area.
